A) About cows

Mastitis:  is an inflammation of the mammary gland that can be caused by physical, chemical, mechanical or infectious factors. 80% of mastitis cases are caused by the entry of specific pathogenic microorganisms through the nipples and tissues of the udder; the remaining cases are the result of traumatic injuries, with or without invasion of microorganisms.

Babesiosis: it is a disease caused by a protozoa called Babesia SP., one of the many tick-borne diseases. Once the cow is infected, the disease is very difficult to control, due to the high cost of treatment. It usually affects milk production, but in some cases, in addition, if the cow's immune situation is not adequate, specimens may be sacrificed.

Brucelosis: it is an infectious disease, caused by the bacterium Brucella abortus, which mainly affects bovine females of reproductive age, causing abortions. Whole males can also become infected and in them the disease manifests with loss of fertility due to orchitis and epididymitis. This pathology is also a zoonosis (transmitted to humans) and causes an invalidating disease if not treated.

Salmonelosis: is an infection of the intestine that can cause severe diarrhea, pneumonia and high fever. Since an animal spreads, spread the Salmonella bacteria for 1 to 3 weeks with its manure. The presence of Salmonella in a company can be detected by analysis of the milk in the tank. Even in the most hygienic companies the bacterium can appear, through tiny portions of manure that come into contact with milk.

The disease of the hulls in cattle: is one of the main diseases affecting dairy cows. It is due to various causes that contribute to the installation of pathogens in the hooves, bones, ligasms and joints of the skin and subcutaneous tissues.

CA 1

Cheeseheads love this rare breed: the American Water Spaniel is Wisconsin's state dog! They're faithful companions and talented retrievers — and as the name suggests, they're built for splashing and swimming. They're also avid hunters. Some have worked as therapy dogs.

American Water SpanielOriginally from the United States, this mid-sized, medium-energy breed can grow to between 25-45 pounds and lives an average of 10-14 years. The breed is recognized by the American Kennel Club and classified as a member of the Sporting group.

 TV Shows

1- Coyote Peterson: I like this tv show because Coyote Peterson and his brave Wilderness Crew plunge into the rainforest of Costa Rica where they encounter Central America's rare animals. Thanks to this TV show we can learn about animals that we don't usually encounter.

2- Jeremy Wade's Dark Waters: This series is about a biologist and extreme fisherman, who travels the world in search of the most fearsome freshwater assassins, looking for clues, witnesses and stories of people who were attacked by these ferocious predators. I recommend this tv show because thanks to it we can meet unknown creatures, and learn about other cultures.

3- My Cat from Hell: This TV show introduces us to Jackson Galaxy, an expert in cats, who believes he can help any problematic cat, as long as their owners  follow their advice. This series is very good because Jackson teach us the care we should have with cats and not raise them in a bad way.

My dream job

When I was a child, I wanted to be a doctor, because I like to help people, I remember I always wanted to have a medical kit, and I got one for Christmas, however this dream was changing, and I never thought again about what I would like to be in the future, and I never realized until before I took the PSU that I always surrounded by what I really like to be in the future, a vet.

All my life I have live around animals, because in my house there have always been domestic birds such as chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, etc. And as I grew up my interest towards them increased, and I started having other kind of animals, not only birds. When I had access to the internet, all I did was watch animal videos, so I learned more about them, even today I still do. Well, but at that time I still didn't decide to study veterinary medicine, I decided when there was little time to took the PSU, and I realized that I had not vocation for something else, I only liked and I was interested in animals.
